Meh. I'd go for the components. It'll practically be a new computer once you're done anyway. :)
You're only looking for motherboard, processor and memory right? Why futz with the other stuff they still work and will play nicely with the new toys?
I'm one to talk though. I need to upgrade my system desperately but I just don't have the funds for it. Blech.
