I need that Icon...

...the one that [livejournal.com profile] nazrynn  has - LJ - We know Drama!

DON'T PANIC!

Yes, it sucks that, like everyone else, the people who run LJ experienced lay-offs today.  I believe, however, if LJ were going bye-bye - we'd not be hearing about the lay-offs til it was already gone.

I love this site. I enjoy staying in contact with the numerous people I know around the country via LJ.  I am an optimist - I believe that, yeah, the firings suck and are not a good sign - but LJ isn't going anywhere.

Thank you.

You mean this one?

Oh, I'm not saying it's not a valid concern that something of the sort _could_ happen, but yeah - it hasn't. LJ is still here, folks.

I'm already seeing people start bailing to other journals. Bleah.

I would think they'd at least try to do something first like, say, make everyone have to pay to use it, which would suck but would be better than just disappearing. I doubt with the amount of money the owners invested in it, we're just going to show up one day to see the lights out and the windows boarded up.

LJ may seem like oxygen to us addicts, but let's face it, it's a luxury item. It's not food or shelter or clothes or a utility. In a tanking economy, luxury item industries are gonna take a hit.
