A public service announcement

For those who care - the Society for Creative Anachronism is a HOBBY, RECREATION, AND/OR GAME.  Everyone will enjoy it to their level...and should not fault the method/means of enjoyment of others for having any effect on their own.  Anyone taking the SCA too seriously, or implying that the fun of others in the game is interfering with their own should seek immediate psychiatric help.

Don't we all participate in this organization for the fun of it?

Thank you.

Hey! Wanna go watch the Princess Bride?

*ducks and runs for cover*

[identity profile] unicornpearlz.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds good - my place or yours? The fencing in it ROCKS!

[identity profile] purpura.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
It aught to be! Errol Flynn's stunt double/choreographer is the one who trained and choreographed it!

In the script the fight scene merely says "Here is the greatest sword fight in the history of movies." And yah, I think it really is.

I used to have "Movie dates" with Matt when he was at work. TMC would play Princess Bride on endless repeat, so we'd both watch it and email back and forth during the length of the movie!

Listen, just because *you* don't take it seriously enough . . .

;)

[identity profile] unicornpearlz.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
:-P Ptttbbb! ;) Love you!

INCONCEIVABLE!

You got your PB in my Authenticity!

I REALLY need a PB icon for the next year.

Peanut butter?

[identity profile] alysten.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
My brain... she cannot handle this much idiocy.

[identity profile] crazyroman.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
To put this in perspective.... Does anybody want a peanut?

I think what was said earlier about the human race being out of fresh livers to transplant for the EK List Drinking Game was pretty accurate - since I removed myself from that list this summer, I've lost track/score of who owes who what drinks, so let's call it a draw, go get drunk, and see how long authenticity lasts through beer goggles. ;)

passing out is a perfectly period pasttime

[identity profile] nazrynn.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I am all for this plan. :)

Liam gets to buy the booze. ;) ;) ;)

[livejournal.com profile] rocksryan says he is not the sober driver.

[identity profile] sskipstress.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I'll drive. I have a self-imposed limit of 2 drinks, and if I don't think I'll be able to stick to that limit, I don't start. This is probably one of those situations where it'll best for me to not start.

[identity profile] nazrynn.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I think that list is enough for anyone to go from sober to reaching for the beer/chocolate/aspirin just from logging on.

My inbox could not take it anymore (and the same people posting the same onoes/omglolwrfbbq thing for several years straight gets tiring), so I left after Helicoptergate. I've managed to pick up on Inconceivagate / Wesleygate / PBGate / Ohthiskeygate without being on the list, and have been (wisely) drinking coffee on behalf of friends who are still on the list.

Although, now that I think of it, perhaps coffee wasn't so wise... I'll probably catch up on the lost sleep due to caffeine OD next week, at this pace.

I've unsubscribed from other kingdoms' mailing lists for similar reasons. I'm not sure EK had a list when I lived there. I know I hadn't subscribed to it.

[identity profile] sskipstress.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
The snark from this incident got me to wondering when the EK mailing list first started. I know I've never subscribed to it, but did it even exist when I lived in the East Kingdom?

[identity profile] terrilyn.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Um, wtf?

Have you had some people snarking at you due to it?

[identity profile] fencerm2.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Not at me, no. I am not ON that list, either. I am just amused by all the BS that has popped up, and having been the one to speak my King's decree in court on Saturday, feel a need to put in my 2 cents worth on this topic.

[identity profile] rlg.livejournal.com 2009-11-11 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
damn ... what'd I miss?

[identity profile] ldykatrina.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Think of it this way the SCA started at Berkley in the late 60s - Dont you think there may have been hippies, mushrooms and weed there too?

Its a game, a dress up game... those that are too serious, well I feel sad for them.

I AGREE!!

[identity profile] unicornpearlz.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
So the suicidal guilt trip people keep putting me on - the fact that I'm looking into different recreationist groups makes sense?

[identity profile] dinocarl.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
What? People take this seriously? Where's my jug-o-rita!
