Updated thoughts and comments
Oct. 21st, 2005 02:28 pmI have been more-or-less keeping with my promise to myself to write for at least an hour daily. And the results are making me quite happy.
Seeker was divided into 5 files along the way (single-spaced, they were approximately 50 pages or so each), so as to lessen the risk of complete and catastrophic loss of my material. I had been stuck in section 2 for quite some time before I took up this challenge to myself, and now am only a few pages from completing section 3. Granted, this only leaves me a week to complete editing Seeker, but I believe that it will be done. Its been flowing well...and I intend to spend most of next weekend on it.
I had, prior to the editing, submitted queries and stuff to over a dozen agents - and all rejected it. At the end of August, I submitted a query to another agent - restarting the process with the edited work. I have not heard back from her - and as its well past the time in which she SHOULD have responded - I mailed out another query and the relevant materials to another today.
Fingers are crossed - I should hear back something in the next 6-8 weeks (which for a mailed query is the industry standard, more or less). I REALLY want to make a career doing this!
So next up is NaNoWriMo. I have my story idea at last - sci-fi/young adult. No title, but titles don't usually come to me til I am well into a work. I will post my premise when I begin writing it. But I am excited - and I think I have a very cool storyline to play with!
