I have to stop reading the news. All it does is annoy me these days.

If its not the war in Iraq, its the scary things the current administration is doing on a day to day basis. Whether nominating a questionable candidate to the supreme court, standing behind men who clearly partake of regular acts of wrongdoing, or standing for the almighty dollar - this country is not heading towards anywhere I can see as being good. And why are people SO intent on backwards thinking? Wake up, ladies and gentlemen - the kinder, gentler, more naive world of the 1950's is no longer applicable to our current society. And the-powers-that-be knows it wasn't as good as you remember it being, or rather idealize it to have been. The general structure of what we call "family" is no longer what it used to be, and no single moral code of conduct can be applied to everyone, given the diversity of religion, sexual preference, and status across the board. Most television news now is simply propoganda based on whoever is footing the bill, and by-and-large "Joe Average American" is too apathetic to care about the illegal and terrifying things happening in the upper echelons of our political body. Its disturbing, depressing, and to me rather upsetting.

And I don't just point my finger at the Republicans - the Democrats are no better...but they COULD be, if they wised up! Stop reacting, DNC - and get proactive. And stop lecturing - take a page from the GOP, and talk TO "Joe Average American" - not AT him. And you can all stop picking our pockets in every possible way you can think of.

Yeah...I REALLY should stop reading the news. But like a car wreck, while I won't slow down to look (damned rubberneckers), I DO glance at it...just to see what's going on.
