Ok, so here goes:

1. Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll pick a substance to wrestle with you in.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (maybe/maybe not).
5. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal.

Again, this topic infuriates me!

From the Associated Press:

Bush Says 'Intelligent Design' Should Be Taught

WASHINGTON (Aug. 2) - President Bush said Monday he believes schools should discuss ''intelligent design'' alongside evolution when teaching students about the creation of life.

During a round-table interview with reporters from five Texas newspapers, Bush declined to go into detail on his personal views of the origin of life. But he said students should learn about both theories, Knight Ridder Newspapers reported.

''I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought,'' Bush said. ''You're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, the answer is yes.''

The theory of intelligent design says life on earth is too complex to have developed through evolution, implying that a higher power must have had a hand in creation.

Christian conservatives - a substantial part of Bush's voting base - have been pushing for the teaching of intelligent design in public schools. Scientists have rejected the theory as an attempt to force religion into science education.

On other topics during the group interview, the president:

-Refused to discuss the investigation into whether political aide Karl Rove or any other White House official leaked a CIA officer's identity, but he stood behind Rove. ''Karl's got my complete confidence. He's a valuable member of my team,'' Bush said.

-Said he did not ask Supreme Court nominee John Roberts about his views on Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that legalized abortion.

-Said he hopes to work with Congress to pass an immigration reform bill this fall, including provisions for guest workers and enhanced security along the U.S.-Mexico border.

I cannot believe these idiots are trying to sell this! I am still not sure what offends me more deeply - the notion of them attempting to teach creationism in the classroom - OR - the euphemism "Intelligent Design". While we're at it, should we make sure the earth is NOT, in fact, flat...and re-examine racial brain size correlations?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - I will not argue that - but Creationism has ZERO basis of fact - whereas there IS scientific evidence of evolution. Is it infallible? Hell no! But the latter IS a question of science, while the former is simply based on speculation, presumption, and faith.

Church and state should be separate - PERIOD. We are NOT, repeat, NOT a Christian society. While we're at it - the USA is also not Hebrew, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, Satanist, or any other single religious sect - but our "melting pot" is supposed to accept ALL OF THESE!

Publicly funded schools have no room for religion, with the exception of teaching about its nature and existence in a VERY general sense - no one faith should in any way influence the public education system. You want faith based education, send your kid to a private school!

Can you tell that this REALLY upsets me??? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr....

And as to the rest of this annoying article - I'm just waiting for W to dissolve the democracy "in the interest of national security" and declare himself "Emperor" or "Omnipotent Poobah" or some such.

Sometime after that the hologram will fade, and Rove will finally reveal his dominance of this administration and its policies. *shiver*

Yeah, I'm becoming a real pessimist about the American Political landscape...
