Excellent thoughts. However, the bulk of the members of Congress are not obliged to give you a second thought. Have you take a positive step and shared your concerns with the three individuals who are obliged to pay some attention to your concerns?

Write your congressman and your senators; it is not likely they will pay much heed to your thoughts, but you may at least get a response.

An interesting notion, and I have considered it. I have also considered that odds are I will garner a canned response at best. I hope my open letter might spark some debate.

I wrote to my congresswoman during the budget impasse and didn't even get a canned response. Normally she's better than that.
