I have yet to hear back from the last agency I submitted to, and it has been too long now for me to wait anymore. They are interested - they will make contact, I guess.

But rather than wait, and wait - since it takes many, many rejections I am told, I chose another candidate, and mailed off a query letter to an agent today.

This agent is in Brooklyn. And I know he keeps a LiveJournal, too.

Need to discipline myself more - and write more. Among other things. Working on it.

Insomnia isn't much fun.

Edit:
Read the chapters, seen the map yet?

Yup, keep plugging along.

Also, just so you know, you should send a letter to the agent that you first sent the book to, letting them know that you are pulling the submission and submitting it to another agent.

Even if they don't respond, you've done your due diligence as far as not having simultaneous submissions out.

And not all published authors make fun of self-pubbed. I know a couple self-pubs that are very well done. Most of them, unfortunately, aren't. If you're looking at that avenue, check out Lulu.com - they're VERY highly regarded.

Have you looked at doing an ebook? That's another avenue you can explore. A good one to try is Double Dragon Publishing.

And if you haven't at least strolled the boards at Forward Motion, I suggest you do. www.fmwriters.com

It's a gold mine.
